This CIBTAC Award in Providing Manicure Services qualification is designed to ensure you have all the necessary skills to work professionally in the International Spa Environment as a manicurist.
This Level 2 Award in Manicure is an internationally recognised vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a manicurist, or add to your current profile of skills.
Throughout this qualification you will develop a range of technical skills that include consulting with the client, recognising any contra-indications, and preparing for the treatment. It also covers nail shaping & buffing of the nails, nail & skin analysis, exfoliation, massage, treatment masks and enamel application, enabling you to provide a professional manicure. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with your clients. Health and safety practice in the spa provides awareness to the learner of potential risks and hazards within the spa environment knowing how to identify them and the responsibilities and procedures to deal with them.
In this course you will study a variety of modules covering:
- Health and Safety including Spa Environment and professional image
- Consultation including skin and nail analysis
- Contra-indications that prevent or restrict treatment (requiring medical permission)
- Anatomy and physiology including 4 systems of the body
- Preparation for treatment including selection of treatment specific products, including paraffin wax, hot oil and thermal mitts.
- Performance of treatment routine and processes including various techniques and knowledge of massage movements
- How to conclude with home-care and aftercare advice including retail sales and further treatments.
Hours of Study
The Modules can be accessed to suit your time frame, and can be revisited as often as you require ensuring your learning is embedded. To meet the CIBTAC requirement the minimum hours of study must be 70 hours.
The believe online virtual education system will assess you in each aspect of your learning by using a quiz that will be graded immediately.
You must produce a portfolio of evidence including 5 manicure treatment plans covering 1 luxury treatment, 1 French polish finish, 1 dark coloured polish, and 2 other finished manicures.
To assist you in preparing for the examination the assessor will meet with you for practical assistance developing your techniques.
The examination is by an independent CIBTAC examiner, who will spend 15 minutes before each exam with specific instructions.
The portfolio must be available for the Examiner.
For the Level 2 Award in Providing Manicure Services there will be a 40 minute multiple choice written paper, including health and safety, anatomy and treatment knowledge and a separate 45 minute practical exam.
