This CIBTAC Award in Facial Skin Care is designed to ensure you have all the necessary skills to work professionally in the International Spa Environment as a facial therapist.
The Level 2 Award in Facial Skin Care is an internationally recognised vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a facial therapist, or add to your current profile of skills
The course will provide learners with the necessary basic knowledge and skills for skin treatments and as a starting block for further study within the specialised area of facial therapy. This is an ideal course for any therapist who wishes to add more skills to their professional qualifications or as an introduction for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the more specialised field of facial skin care therapy. This course will enable you to provide a full facial treatment with effective product selection to achieve skin cleansings, analysis, warming, exfoliation, extraction of comedones, massage and mask application. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with your clients. Health and safety practice in the spa provides awareness to the learner of potential risks and hazards within the spa environment knowing how to identify them and the responsibilities and procedures to deal with them.
In this course you will study a variety of modules covering;
- Health & safety, Spa environment, professional image and Skin consultation
- Cleansing, toning, skin analysis, exfoliation, extraction, facial massage, skin heating, specialised mask, including eye, face and lip care.
- Understand contra-indications that prevent or restrict treatment (requiring medical permission)
- Anatomy & Physiology including 5 systems of the body
- Preparation for facial treatment including appropriate selection of products for the correct skin type and conditions (cleanse, tone, exfoliate, masks, massage mediums, moisturisers, eye & neck products )
- Application of the facial treatment routine
- How to conclude with home-care and aftercare advice including retail sales and further treatment planning.
Hours of Study
The Modules can be accessed to suit your own time frame, and can be revisited as often as you require ensuring your learning is embedded. To meet the CIBTAC requirement the minimum hours of study must be 78 hours.
The believe online virtual education system will assess you in each aspect of your learning by using a quiz that will be graded immediately.
You must produce a portfolio of evidence including 4 full facial treatment plans to include the range of oily, dry and combination skin types.
To assist you in preparing for the examination the assessor will meet with you for practical assistance developing your techniques.
The examination will be administrated by an independent CIBTAC examiner.
The portfolio must be available for the Examiner
The examiner will spend 15 minutes before each exam with specific examination instructions.
For the Award in Provide Facial Skincare there will be;-
30 minute multiple choice written paper including health and safety, anatomy and treatment knowledge
A separate 50 minute practical exam

CIBTAC lifetime registration fee is £25 this is a one off payment, that covers you for all future courses. Payable on enrolment to CIBTAC.
