CIBTAC Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF)

This CIBTAC Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification is for people that are interested in a career in teaching in further education, or for those that have recently started teaching.

This Level 3 Award is designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge required to fulfill a teaching role. During this course you will learn about preparation, planning and basic course design. You will also gain teaching delivery skills and participate in micro teaching sessions, evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content


Course Structure

In this course you will study 3 modules covering:


Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in training and education

This unit is to develop your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in lifelong learning and the relationship between different professionals in lifelong learning. You will learn about taking responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for learners.


Facilitate learning and development for individuals

The aim of this unit is to enable you to facilitate learning and development for individuals. You could be in a coaching or mentoring role. You are required to understand the use of a variety of methods. Learning and development ‘Practitioner’ means anyone with a learning and development responsibility as part of their role


Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Covering, the theoretical aspects of different types of assessment, the legal requirements involved and how to plan the assessment with the learner. It also covers how to make assessment decisions ensuring the quality of the treatment is maintained and how to feed this information back to the person in the workplace and other appropriate personnel.


Hours of Study

The Modules can be accessed at any time to suit your own time frame, andcan be revisited as often as you require ensuring your learning is embedded. To meet the CIBTAC requirement the minimum hours of study must be 48 hours.



The believe online virtual education system will assess you in each aspect of your learning by using a quiz that will be graded immediately.

You must produce a portfolio of evidence including 3 assignments, micro teaching, witness statements, oral questions, and observations.

To assist you in preparing for observation the assessor will meet with you for practical assistance developing your techniques. Dates will be arranged when all assignments have been submitted and a pass grade achieved.



The completed, fully marked and graded portfolio evidence including assignments has to be submitted 2 weeks prior to examinations completed and marked.

Access to learners that are undergoing training, if required believe may assist with this requirement


Course fees

£900 payable to believe LTD, which is through online secure payment method.

CIBTAC lifetime registration fee is £25 this is a one off payment, that covers you for all future courses. Payable on enrolment to CIBTAC.

CIBTAC examination fees for the Caribbean from 1st September 2015 to 1st September 2016 Level 3 Award in Assessing Occupational Competence £64. Payable 3 months prior to examination date, non-refundable. Payable to CIBTAC.
